Mr. Willie Taylor

November 19, 1926 — April 30, 2022

Willie Taylor, 95, departed this life on Saturday, April 30, 2022. He was born in
Sawyerville, Alabama on November 19, 1926, to the late Willie and Ethel Taylor.

He graduated from Hale County Training School and left home afterward to join the United States Army. After service, he moved to Cleveland Ohio and from there, he spent some time in Chicago before he finally settled in Evansville, Indiana where he received a degree in mechanics and became the owner and operator of “Willie’s Body Shop”. Willie worked tiringly until his retirement repairing and painting cars.

Willie confessed his belief in Christ at an early age and was a deacon at St. James Baptist Church until his health failed. He enjoyed family events and showing off his culinary skills by firing up the barbeque grill. During his spare time, he managed a band and sponsored a girls’ softball team.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by loved ones; brothers: Frank, K.L., Curtis, Edward, Joseph, Richard, Henry, Carlton, Jake, Earvin, Jimmie Lee, and Luther; sister: Earlean.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Denise Taylor; sisters: Lessie Sherman and Annie Pearl (Joe Lee) Garner; brother James Taylor; stepchildren: William (Colette) Forrow, Alfred Forrow, David Forrow, and Edith Forrow and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
