William Andrew Slaton

William Andrew Slaton, Sr., 73 of Madisonville, KY exchanged time for eternity on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Baptist Health Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Sherman Slaton; his mother, Mabel Louise Lester Slaton and brothers Samuel Eugene and Richard Lester Slaton.
Andrew was a 1962 graduate of Rosenwald High School. He answered the call to serve his country through the U. S. Army. He was a hard worker, employed by Birmingham Bolt Company until their closure and later retired from Cresline Plastics in Henderson, KY.
Andrew was a Christian and long-time member of the Zion Temple A.M.E. Zion Church where he faithfully served as Trustee as long as his health allowed. He also loved to sing with the Choir. Andrew had a quiet, easygoing spirit and a strong sense of loyalty and determination. He enjoyed cars, UK basketball and his diet Mountain Dew! His greatest joys were in spending time with family, friends and helping others. He was a loving husband, father, family member and friend.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 45 years, Deborah; sons Jeffrey (Jennifer); William (Kristin); brother Rufus (Shirley); sisters Ann Langford (Harvey); Kathy Tunstill and Angela Slaton; grandsons Kohner Andrew, Preston William and Davis Andrew; granddaughters Madison Jane and Hanley Elizabeth; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
