William E. Drake, Sr. departed this life on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. at the Hillside Villa in Madisonville, KY. He was born in White Plains, KY, to the late William Clarence Lee and Ellon McNary Drake.
William was known as “Uncle Bud” to his family and “Drake” to his friends.
His passion was walking to work and church. If you saw him, he might take a ride with you, but his preferred method of transportation was walking.
He worked for a sawmill company in White Plains before moving to Madisonville. Once he moved to Madisonville, he worked for Senior Citizens Center, Kentucky Rest Haven, Farmer Bank & Trust, and Trover Clinic, from where he retired.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Madisonville and a devoted member of the Merriweather Lodge #42 for years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in brothers: Ben, Johnny, Joe, and Louis; and sister: Rosa D. Gooch.
He leaves to cherish his memory children: William E. Drake, Jr., Angela Floyd, and Chris Stafford; 30 grandchildren; sister: Eula D. Nichols; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
