Wilfred Monagan Smith (Fred), 57, passed in Orlando, Florida while on vacation with his family. He was born and raised in Chicago, IL to Grady Lee Smith, Sr. and Naomi Smith. He was the fifth of six children.
Wilfred graduated from Manley High School in Chicago, IL after which he graduated from the Loop Academy of Business School where he studied Business Administration. He retired from Sears Roebuck Company where he was a sales associate and warehouseman. After moving to Evansville, he became employed with ResCare.
He belonged to Greater Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL and later attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with his wife. Wilfred enjoyed being with his family and preparing delicious meals that he created from the “Down Home with The Neeleys” and the Paula Dean television shows. He also enjoyed listening to music of all types on the radio and his old school record albums.
Awaiting him at the Pearlie Gates are his Parents; his wife of 32 years, Beverly Smith, his siblings: Grady Lee Smith, Jr., Omie Lee Dew, Wilbur Lee Smith, Toi Lee Smith, a son: Luther “Pookie” Green.
He leaves to cherish his memory, children: Montoya Naomi Smith, Leroy “Bull” Nellum, Luchanna “Lu” Nellum, Michael “Snout” Green; Grandchildren: Aaliyah, AJunious, Leroyal, Royaity, Ryan, Symone, Tatayana, Briana, Michael, Corey, Sirtoine, Daone, Misanne, Pooh Pooh, Gracie, Trina, Mickel; 17 Great grandchildren, and one sister Gracie Lee Smith.
Services, Tuesday August 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
