Wanda Jean Griffin was born August 25, 1945, In London, Kentucky to the union of Stephen and Dorothy Griffin. Wanda left this life to begin her eternal journey, reunited with her loved ones on September 14, 2021.
Wanda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the pastorage of Reverend Austin Bell at Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church in Henderson, KY. She attended Alves St. Elementary School and Douglas High School, where she was a 1963 graduate and the valedictorian of her class. She continued her education at Kentucky State University where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree. She also received a Master's Degree at Western Kentucky University. She relocated to Louisville, KY and began her lifelong career in the field of teaching. She taught in the Jefferson County Public School Systems for over 30 years and was a passionate and dedicated educator.
She returned to Henderson upon her retirement to be with her mother and sister. They had a bond that was like no other, and although their time together was short it was nonetheless....Perfect!
She was preceded in death by her parents: Steve and Dorothy Griffin, and her beloved sister: Stephanie Griffin.
She leaves to cherish her memories her lifelong friend: Phillis Thompson of Louisville, KY; aunt: Roberta Andrews (Richard) of London, KY; a bonus sister: Karen Bushrod of Henderson, KY; a host of cousins and friends; and her canine companion: Rosie.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 25 at Mason Brothers Audubon Chapel, Henderson, KY. Burial at Fernwood Cemetery.
