Walter William Jones, Jr., 71 of Evansville, IN received his heavenly wings on October 20,2020 at Cypress Grove Rehab Center in Newburgh, IN after a short stay. Cypress Grove gave William an Honor Walk and a Final Salute on his departure.
He was born to Walter W. Jones, Sr. and Lorraine Jones on June 10, 1949. He was a 1968 graduate of Central High School. William was drafted into the United States Army on April 8, 1969. He was stationed in Vietnam and after serving three years, he received his Honorable Discharge with the following medals & awards: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharpshooter M-14, Marksmen M-16. William was a 100% service-connected disabled veteran.
He married Donita McGuire on September 24, 2005. They were united until his death. After 20 years of employment as a machine operator, he retired from CSX railroad. William attended Riverwalk Community Adult Daycare where he was awarded a trophy as the best dressed for eleven consecutive years. He was a devoted member of Watkins Temple and a member of American Legion Otis Stone Post 354.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by brother: Norman Jones; uncle: Gilbert Jones; mother of his children: Avis O’Neal.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 15 years who was also his loving & devoted caregiver until her health failed: Donita Jones; son: William Jones; daughter: Kiesha Jones; stepchildren: Harry and Shaneeka McGuire all of Evansville, IN; sister: Wilma Akins; uncle: Carvey Jones of Marion, IN.; grandchildren, who loved their Paw Paw dearly; sisters in-law: Ann Jones and Linda Boyd; nieces, nephews; a host of cousins and friends.
William was a perfect gentleman at all times and a wonderful father, grandfather, family-man, and friend to all. He was deeply loved by many and will be missed by all. Service is for family only at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday November 4, 2020 at R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service.
