Virginia Elaine Thomas

December 25, 1946 — November 18, 2018

Virginia Elaine Jones Thomas was born December 25, 1946 to the late Israel and Vivian Jones in Quitman, Mississippi. She attended St. John Catholic grade school and graduated from Rex Mundi High School in 1964.
Virginia moved to Chicago, IL where she was employed at International Harvester for many years and received her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Ivy Tech College. She was most proud to be an employee of Johnson Publishing Co.; the historical publishers of Ebony and Jet Magazines. At the time of her death, Virginia was employed at the University of Southern Indiana as an Administrative Assistant in the Fine Arts Dept. for 16 years.
Virginia was an avid reader and a great cook. She was known for her delicious fried fish and corn bread.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brother Mark Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter: Stacie Hunter; brother: Israel Neal Jones; 2 grandchildren: Cory Hunter, An Zhane’ Forest; 4 great grandsons: Amari, Harlem, Amoni, & Cordell; her sister cousin: (Plukie) Claudia Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
