Virginia Pitts

Virginia Pitts, age 96, departed this life on May 22, 2016. Virginia was born October 18, 1919 in Greenville KY to Ethel (nee Saulsberry) and William Robinson.

Virginia worked during World War II at the Evansville Shipyards. She retired in the late 1990’s from domestic work. She was a 60+ year member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

Virginia was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Phelps; infant daughter; stepson, William; step-daughter, DeEtta; sisters: Mary Andrew Bard, Rowena Stewart, Eva Dumas, Elizabeth Morgan, Lily Rose Jones; brothers: Clarence “Boy” Payton (PF), and James Elmer Robinson.

She is survived by her son, Gregory Pitts; daughter, Lynn Nora Pitts Sterling; stepson, Rodney Pitts; grandchildren: Michael Sterling, Kay Lynn Sterling, Rodney Pitts, Shelly Richmond; sisters: Margaret and Elsie Robinson; brother, William Robinson, Jr. (Queenetta); a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces & nephews, great-great nieces & nephews; special niece, Jacqueline Stewart Glass; and many friends.

Services are Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00am at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Evansville. Visitation from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.masonbrothersfs.com
