Velma Almira Bushrod-Cabell was born November 7, 1932 to the union of James Iland Bushrod and Della Blackwell Bushrod in Zion Kentucky. The sunset of her life came peacefully on September 4, 2018 at Linda White Hospice House.
She was a faithful member of Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church and
retired from Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church where she worked for many years.
In 2001, the Honorable Velma Cabell was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Govenor Paul E. Patton. In 2015, she was inducted into the Women's Honor Court.
Velma leaves to honor the legacy of her life, sons: James Bushrod, John Bushrod; daughters: Lucy Hancock (Richard), Gloria Bushrod, Margaret Howard, Etta Holmes. She also leaves behind to cherish her memories, 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
