Rev. Timothy Chambers, 59, transitioned from Earth to Eternity on December 9, 2021, in Elkton, Maryland. He was born to Mark Anthony Banks and Sharon Chambers in Henderson, KY. Timothy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Norris Chapel in Henderson, KY. He later accepted the call to become a minister of the Gospel.
Timothy was educated in the Henderson County School System and after graduating from high school, went on to complete his bachelor’s degree at Kentucky State University in Music Education. His beautiful smooth voice caused his friends to name him “Little Luther” after Luther Vandross. In college, many of his friends would hire him to serenade their girlfriends on Valentine’s Day.
Timothy loved teaching music and he loved to sing. He became the Band Director at KY State later in his career. He took his musical talents to Alcorn State University and other HBCUs, but most recently, he was employed as the Band Director at Lincoln University in Lincoln University, PA. His students revered him. One of them memorialized him with this tribute:
“A no-nonsense professor, mentor, encourager, and most importantly a person who cared deeply for everyone he met. We thank God for Mr. Chambers’s life, love, and all he instilled in his students.”
Timothy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Reachelle Chambers; sisters: Wendy Chambers, Karen Chambers, Dawn Chambers; brother: Marvin Chambers; 2 uncles; 1 aunt; 1 sister-in-law; 1 niece; 3 nephews; and a host of cousins & friends.
