Theodore Roosevelt (Rosy) Haygan was born Feb. 28, 1928 to Frank Haygan and Dena Pruitt Hagan. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a dedicated Daddy to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other children who visited his household.
Roosevelt married his best friend and only sweetheart, Ophelia Perkins on Dec. 3, 1950. He was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. He worked at Russel Wilson Coal Company. Roosevelt later worked as a truck driver hauling logs and coal before retiring with more than 25 years of service from Scott Lumber Company.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his wife, sons: Theodore R. Haygan, Jr., Ricky Allen Haygan; daughter: Faye Ann Johnson; brothers: Giles Leachman, John F. Haygan, William F. Haygan, George Haygan, Floyd (Big Tree) Haygan; sister: Irene Thomas.
Roosevelt is survived by daughters: Sonia Hagan Knight, Kimberly L. Jackson, Tina M. Whitlow (Mike); sons: Stephen Ray Haygan, John P. Gant, Paul Gant; brother: Dorsey Haygan (Frances); sister: Anna Clark; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
