Sylvia Ann Neely Williamson was born In Indianapolis on January 8, 1934 to the late Ross Neely and Helen Arnett (Neely) Cole. She made her transition from this earth on November 15, 2020 at the age of 86 with her loyal caregivers, Marlene Crenshaw and Lottie Wickware by her side.
Sylvia’s early years were spent in Corydon, Kentucky but she moved to Evansville when her mother married her stepfather, the late Branch Cole. She was a 1951 graduate of Lincoln High School and was employed for several years at Western Electric in Indianapolis and Fiberfill in Evansville. In her spare time, she worked for various Evansville caterers as a server and bartender.
She was a Christian and occasionally attended St. John Catholic Church and was known for her friendliness and generosity. As her health declined, she kept in touch with numerous friends and neighbors through chatty telephone conversations and front porch visits. She knew no strangers.
She was preceded in death by her son: Ramon Williamson, Jr.; brother: Michael Cole; and stepbrother: Branch Cole, Jr.
Sylvia leaves to cherish her memory, her sister: Rose Cole Mays; nieces: Heather Mays Wood (Kevin) and Kristin Mays Corbitt (David); cousins: William Cortez Oliver, Robert Lee Chambers (Mary) and Julius Donald Hawkins (Martha); and a host of beloved relatives and many friends.
At Sylvia’s request there will be no funeral.
