Sherman L. Hill was born on July 26, 1944 to Eva Mae and Robert Hill. Sherman went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 24, 2015.
Sherman was raised in Evansville, Indiana and attended St. John’s Catholic Church. He played many sports but excelled in basketball, baseball, and boxing. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1963. After a short stint in the Army, he attended college and received his Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He spent over 40 years as an advocate for those in need. Sherman’s job experiences included being a social worker, teacher, bus driver for the city of Milwaukee and the school corporation, and he was the Executive Director of Harambee Ombudsman Project, Inc., and co-founder of Father’s Inc. He was a highly sought after guest speaker for several organizations and ran for State Representative for the State of Wisconsin. In addition, Sherman was a member of several boards such as Mentor/Role Model Project, Task Force on Racism, and the Milwaukee Holocaust Museum.
Sherman had a great love for children. He coached for several football, basketball, and baseball programs. His love and passion was also in his music, clothes, shoes, and his African American heritage.
Sherman is preceded in death by his mother and father, bother George Hill, beloved grandmother, Mary Kinchlow, and stepfather, Robert Suggs.
Left behind to cherish his memories are brothers: Herman Hill, Donald (Torey) Suggs both of Evansville, Robert Suggs of St. Louis; nephews: Devin and Miles Suggs of Evansville; and his special partner Nancy Meneese.
