Sarah G. McAfee Mobley, 89, passed October 27, 2021, IN Evansville, IN. She was born in Cartersville, GA on August 17, 1932, to LeRoy McAfee and Florence McAfee Childers. Sarah graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She was employed at the Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center for 29 ½ years as a Food Service Supervisor and with the Community Action Program Evansville (CAPE) as a Bus Monitor for over five years.
She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where she loved working in the culinary department and serving on the Mother’s Board.
Sarah was a member of the LCDA and Carver Community Center. She enjoyed playing cards, watching her favorite shows on TV, and traveling. But more than anything, Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family, grands, great-grands, and great-great grands.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Sydney Mobley Sr.; one grandson: Watez Phelps, Jr; one brother: William McAfee; one sister: Helena Williams.
Survivors include her four children: Sharlene Mobley of Washington, DC, Sylvia Wells, Sidney Mobley Jr., and Stacey Norman all of Evansville; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 ½ great-great-grandchildren; a devoted friend Nannie Wharton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Memorial Baptist Church in Evansville, IN with visitation from 9:00 am until service. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. R.
