Samuel Wilbur Hawes, age 87, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. Samuel was born in Hebbardsville KY to Elmer and Bertha Hawes. He retired from Don Mahurin Chevrolet Oldsmobile with over 30 years of service.
Samuel was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Henderson, Kentucky. He served as a member of the Usher Board and Men’s Chorus.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Mary, Earnest, Harold, Gene, Julius Ray, and Carl Douglas; and his brother-in-law, James Davie.
Surviving are his children: Theron (Lenora) Hawes and Tamara Hawes; six grandchildren: Angelo, Deadrea, Aleka, Mateo, Ashanti, Almarie; ten great grandchildren; three sisters: Helena (Russell) West, Katie (Laffoon) Williams, Susie Davie; one brother, Elmer Lee (Cherilyn) Hawes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Samuel will be greatly missed.
Services are Monday, August 6, 2018 at 12:00pm at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 450 Fagan Street, Henderson KY. Visitation from 10:00am until service time. Burial in Fernwood Cemetery. Condolences may be left at
