Ruth Ellen Crawley

Ruth Ellen (Martin) Crawley, 92, passed away at 9:00pm Friday October 21, 2016 at Deaconess VNA Hospice Center.

Ruth was a Licensed Practical Nurse and retired from St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born August 17, 1924 in Smith Mills, KY to the late Henry Sr. and Frances A. D. Martin.

She was united in holy matrimony for 34 years to Edgar Crawley, Sr. on February 15, 1947. This union was blessed with five children. Edgar Crawley, Sr. preceded her in death on December 3, 1981. Ruth was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Ivan Crawley; daughter, Linda Gayle Crawley; 2 sisters; and 9 brothers.

At an early age, she committed herself to God. She joined Little Hope Baptist Church, now known as New Hope Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in the Cradle Roll Department as a Nurse’s Aide and on the Mother’s Board. In her spare time, she loved bowling, bingo, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Edgar Crawley, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Ann Guest – both from Evansville, IN; daughter, Diana Lee Crawley from Fort Wayne IN; grandchildren, Andreka (Reginald) Johnson from Antioch TN, Courtney (LaShelle) Crawley, Sr. from Indianapolis IN, Ashley Crawley from Atlanta GA; 6 great grandchildren; 4 sisters in-law; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be at 10:00am on Thursday, October 27, 2016. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11:00am at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.masonbrothersfs.com
