Rosa Nathaniel Toreda Carter (Parrish) was born on April 4, 1938, to the late Ed and Rosa Elliott Parrish of Todd County Kentucky. She transitioned peacefully to her Heavenly home and gained her wings on September 3, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Rosa graduated from Drakesboro Community High School. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board under the leadership of Dr. W.R. Brown Sr.
When Rosa moved to Evansville, she married the late Horace McGuire Sr. and from that union, five children were born. Rosa later married the late Melvin Carter Sr. and gained four bonus children.
Rosa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She always put God first and loved unconditionally. She always prayed before her meals and at night before she went to sleep. She had a quiet spirit, and her favorite song was “Can I Help Somebody”. She never met a stranger. Rosa had a unique laugh with a sigh, and she made the best macaroni and cheese.
