Robert “Fish” Davis, 86, went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2017 at Brentwood Golden Living Nursing Home where he had lived since 2010. Robert was educated in the Evansville Vanderburgh County School System. He gave his life to Christ at the age of 11 joining Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church which he attended until his health failed.
After graduating from Lincoln High School, Robert worked for a while and in 1954, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served his country for more than 17 years. While in the Marines he was a cook serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Evansville, Robert worked as a cook at the Evansville Petroleum Club, in security at the Executive Inn and later at Lynch’s Barber Shop where he shined shoes.
Fish as he was often called, loved to cook and enjoyed frying something up in the kitchen for a friend that might stop by. He was often seen walking about Evansville which he did until his eyesight prevented him from walking unassisted. He was preceded in death by his mother Mae Simmons.
Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 20, 2017 at R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel. Rev. Larry Rascoe will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Rites.
