Richard Parnell “Snoop-Dog” Green, Sr., 67, passed away at 11:45 am, Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home. He was born in Henderson, KY on March 24, 1950 to George Albert and Agnes (Allen) Green. Rich married Doralene (Butler) Green in 1992. This union was blessed with almost 26 years of marriage. Rich was of Catholic faith in his early years and in his adult life was baptized as member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Henderson. In his most recent years he attended Norris Chapel Baptist Church. Rich worked his first job at Fendrick Cigar Factory in Evansville, IN and went on to work at America Chrome in Henderson. He later retired from Carrington/Art Fair Paper Company in Henderson, KY.
Rich attended Henderson City High School. He was an awesome basketball player with a wicked left-hand shot. He played ball at the YMCA and Holy Name in his early years with his close buddies. He had a great love for the University of Kentucky Basketball program and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team. Rich loved to hang out at Spanky’s and Metzger Bars with his closest friends. He was a master at playing darts and hot on the pool table. Rich also loved to travel with his wife, Doralene. They visited places like Louisville, KY, Indianapolis, IN, and Paris Island, SC. They were even able to visit the island of Puerto Rico. Rich was a devoted father who loved all of his children and grandchildren. He was married to Donna M. Boyd in 1968 for 2 years and from this union he had 2 children; Rich was married to Tavia Lee (Tramill) Hamilton in 1973 for 9 years and from this union he had 3 children.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Richard P. Green Jr. Survivors include his wife Doralene (Butler) Green of Henderson; seven children, Shannon (Green) Hayden and husband Shawn of Henderson; Laura Lee Green of Henderson; Richard R. Green, Jr. of Henderson; Kelly Green of Henderson; Demetrius Chester and wife Stacey of Henderson; Scherrie Stone and husband Blake of Louisville; Joshua I. Chester of Henderson; three brothers, Albert Green and wife Barbara of Henderson; Burtis Green of Henderson; and George Green of Louisville, Ky. One sister, Anna Green of Harrisburg, Ill; 33 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren; Aunt Jane of Chicago; Niece and caretaker, Michelle Butler of Henderson; nephew De’Shawn Butler of Henderson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
