Bishop Raymond Marion, Jr., 77, of Madisonville was called to glory Sunday the 3rd of May 2020. He was born to Raymond Marion and Odessa (Lyle) Richardson in Coffeyville, Kansas, but was raised by his grandparents, Walter and Channie Lyle. Bishop Marion and his family migrated to Kokomo, Indiana where they resided most of his childhood and adulthood. Bishop Marion attended a revival where he was sweetly saved and received the Holy Ghost in 1972. He and his family attended Grace Memorial C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Milton L. Hall. Bishop Marion was blessed to serve Grace Memorial C.O.G.I.C. in the capacity of: Y.P.W.W. President, Assistant Youth Minister, and Youth Director. He accepted his call into the ministry in 1975 and was ordained two years later.
On August 28, 1976, the Lord sent his better half in the form of sister Lillian A. (Benson) Marion. They had two beautiful children Kimberly Nicole (Marion) Hollingsworth (Anthony) and Raymond Marion III. In 1980, Bishop Marion was obedient to the will of God and moved his family to Madisonville, KY where he was appointed pastor of Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C. He was appointed District Superintendent in 1981 and Administrative Assistant in 1982 by the late Bishop E.H Ware. Bishop Marion served in Kentucky under the leadership of the late Bishop Ware (1980-1984), the late interim Bishop W.L. Porter (1985), the late Bishop M.J. Sykes (1985-1994) and Interim Bishop H. Jenkins Bell (1994-1996).
Bishop Marion followed the will of God and joined the Church of God in Christ International, where he served under Senior Bishop John H. Davis of Queens, New York. In 1996 Bishop Marion became the prelate Bishop of Ken-Tenn Commonwealth Diocese. Bishop Marion was faithful in the church and loved working with the saints. Bishop Marion also served under Bishop Richard G. Gatlin Sr., and the Bishop J.C. Watford, who is now the presiding Senior Bishop. Bishop Marion served as National Evangelist, Executive Board Member of Bishops, 2nd Assistant Senior Bishop and 1st Assistant Senior Bishop, which he served until his call to glory while executing his works.
Bishop Marion was preceded in death by his wife, Lady Marion (Lillian A. Marion), his Mother Odessa Richardson, his grandparents Walter and Channie Lyle, his brothers Bruce Richardson and Marcus Richardson, and a special god-granddaughter, Tameisha R. Jones. He leaves a legacy behind him. Surviving his death is his daughter Kimberly N. Hollingsworth (Anthony), his son Raymond Marion both of Madisonville, KY; grandchildren: Terayia Farley, Taya Marion, Dayvon Marion, Priya Holmes, DeAnthony Hollingsworth and Khari Hollingsworth of Madisonville, KY; sister: Linda Herring of Kokomo, IN; aunts: Mary (Maxine) Swygert and Mary (Bunchie) Brown both of Kokomo, IN and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and God-children.
