Radcliffe Pendleton was born on July 9, 1938, in Madisonville, Ky to the late Reverend Robert Pendleton and Opal Combs Pendleton. He departed this life Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Radcliffe confessed his love of Christ at an early age under the pastorship of his father, Reverend Robert Pendleton. The Pendletons moved from Madisonville to Morganfield KY when "Sonny", as he was lovingly called, was a young boy of 12 years old. Radcliffe worked diligently for his church, Carr’s Chapel, where his father preached.
"Pimp" a name he acquired while attending Dunbar High School was a star basketball player throughout his high school career. He graduated in 1956 and continued his education at North Carolina State University where he also utilized his talents on the basketball court.
Mr. Pendleton was a member of Bowman Chapel CME Church for more than 25 years, where he served on the Trustee and Steward Boards and was the church treasurer for many years. He enjoyed attending services until his health declined.
As a Local 561 Laborers Union member in Evansville, Mr. Pendleton worked for Alcoe Construction Company for many years and retired from Industrial Contractors in 1990. Radcliffe was also employed at Earl C. Clemons Job Corp Center at one time.
He enjoyed playing cards, watching old Western movies, and socializing with his friends in his free time. In later years, one of his greatest joys was going to Walmart, where he could spend hours shopping for groceries and talking to people.
Radcliffe was preceded in death by his parents Robert Pendleton and Opal Combs Pendleton; four sisters, Betty Wilson, Patricia Williams, Mary Jane Everhart and Robbie Mae Washington.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 64 years, Pat Pendleton, of Morganfield, Ky; his sibling Walter (Linda) Pendleton of Evansville, IN; his children Michael (Yolanda) Pendleton of Garland, Tx, and Dion (Stacy) Pendleton of Evansville, IN. Radcliffe was loved by his 7 grandchildren: Dionna, Dion Jr, Timmy, Josh, Jalen, Raimond, and Laura Pendleton; 6 great-grandchildren; a loving and beloved brother-in-law, Tommy Everhart and a host of nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
