Patricia E. Lucas of Chicago, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born June 12, 1945, in Evansville, IN to the late Clifford Lucas and Wilma Conover. Patricia attended and graduated from Central High School in 1963 and attended Lockyear Business College. She served our country as a member of the United States Air Force.
Patricia moved to Chicago in 1968 and began working at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). While working in the library she enrolled in school at UIC and received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She made a career as a Librarian that began at Johnson’s Publishing Company before accepting a position over the Literacy Program at Harold Washington Library Center Chicago Public Library. She retired in 2001.
Patricia was a faithful member of Moody Church and a dedicated advocate for women affected by Domestic Violence. She was the co-creator of The Set Free Ministry that was a biblically-based ministry out of Moody’s that supported women affected by domestic violence.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her only child Andre S. Lucas.
She leaves to love and cherish her memories; grandchildren: Keegan Lucas, Kiara (Josh) Yuill, Kaleb (Sara) Lucas; mother of her grandchildren: Tammy Lucas; siblings: Terry (Gladys) Lucas, Cheryle Lucas Banks, Kimberly Conover, Todd Conover, and Tony Conover; niece: Shawn (Socrates) Mabry and a host of family members and friends.
A family memorial service will be held at 11:00 Saturday, October 16, 2021, at R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel and she will be laid to rest next to her son Andre S. Lucas at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, IN.
A mask is required.
Moody Church will host a memorial service on October 23, 2021, in Chicago.
