On Saturday, March 25, 2023, Obie Milner Jr., loving father, brother, and friend to many, departed this life at the age of 79. Obie was born on October 15, 1943, in Auburn, AL to the late Obie Milner Sr. and Mae Willie (Slaughter) Milner. He graduated from Drake High School in Auburn, AL. He was a member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church. Obie painted and did construction work in Evansville but spent most of his career on the smelting process line at Alcoa before his retirement. He had a passion for cooking, fishing, and living life to its fullest. Obie was preceded in death by his parents, in addition to his siblings: Horace Milner, Arthur Lee Milner, and Ruby (Milner) Greene, all of Auburn, AL; and his life partner: Linda Guilder of Evansville, IN. Obie leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Dr. Timothy Milner (June) of Conyers, GA; former spouse and good friend, Gertrude Milner of Memphis, TN; brothers: Curtis Milner of Auburn, AL and Joseph Milner of Evansville, IN; sisters: Vermell (Leon) Bush of Columbus, GA and Rosie Milner of Denver, CO; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition, to these family members, Obie was loved and adored by members of his extended family: Ke’Shea Johnson of Evansville and her children and Charles Guilder (Kallah Price) of Evansville.
