Niesha Chasity Hemphill

December 13, 1981 — March 30, 2025

Jacksonville, FL

Niesha Chasity (Denise) Hemphill, affectionally known to family as “Nie” or “Twin” was born December 13, 1981 to Ingrid Hamilton and Jay Christian Harris in Evansville IN. She departed this life in Jacksonville FL on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Niesha was introduced to the Lord at a very young age at Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Henderson KY.

Niesha’s formal education began at Hebron and Ben Gate Elementary Schools and Plaza Park and South Junior High Middle Schools. She attended Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, IN. Niesha excelled not only in the classroom but also in Track & Field, Cheerleading, and Gymnastics.

Niesha embraced life with zest, enthusiasm, and courage. She possessed many skills and abilities and was genuinely dedicated to ministering to and praying for the homeless, as well as to ministering and praying for those within the Judicial System and writing Words of Encouragement to women. She enjoyed listening to music, spending time at the beach, and gatherings with friends. The love of these things shows no comparison to the love she had for her family. Everywhere she went she left her mark!

Later, Niesha met and married Felipe Curts Sr, and to their Union, five children were born. Felipe Jr., Angel, Octavia, Camilla, and Emanuel. Niesha had struggles and joys, and she fought like a warrior. She stayed strong in her Faith. God always saw the BEST in her but in His Infinite Wisdom, He called her Home.

Niesha was preceded in death by the following: father, Jay Christian Harris; maternal grandparents, Missionary Virginia Harris and Rev. Orville J. Hamilton; paternal grandpoppy, Percy Harris Jr.; uncle, Joel Harris; aunt, Sondra K Hamilton; and godparents, Wayne and Pamela (Irvin) Johnson.

Niesha leaves a Treasure Chest of Memories to her husband Felipe Curts Sr; beloved children, Felipe Jr, Angel, Octavia, Camilla, and Emanuel Curts; grandson, Alijah Phillip; mother, Ingrid Hamilton; and Paternal Grandmother, Wanda J. Harris-Lamothe; sisters, Ebony, La’Shaun (Mike), Kiesha, Rikki (Louis), and Keesha; five uncles; five aunts; mother-in-law, Mariana Curts; sister-in-law, Myrtle; brothers-in-law, Caleb (Amanda) and Marco; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
