Indianapolis, IN

Nancy Etta Hunter was born on December 18, 1938, in Sumner County, Tennessee, to Walter Hollerman and Edna (Mills) Hollerman. She was number 7 out of 13 beautiful children. She peacefully departed this life on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 85 years of age, in her home in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by family. Nancy professed faith in Christ at an early age at Williams Chapel Baptist Church and has been walking with the Lord ever since.

Nancy attended Cairo Community School and Union High School in Gallatin, Tennessee. Shortly thereafter, she relocated to Evansville, Indiana where she met the love of her life, Charles Raymond Hunter. They were united in matrimony on May 25, 1963, and this union lasted 59 years, 9 months, and 27 days until Charles was called home to glory on March 21, 2023.

Nancy attended Evansville School of Practical Nursing and graduated in January 1979. She worked for Welborn Hospital, Visiting Nurses Services, Deaconess Hospital, and the Evansville Protestant Home. In 2001, she retired from the Evansville Protestant Home.

Nancy was a faithful member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church for over 59 years and served in several ministries.

Nancy was a glamorous dresser from head to toe, which she lovingly passed down to her only daughter. She enjoyed studying the word of the Lord, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was a huge fan of MSNBC, which she watched day and night. Nancy also enjoyed listening to all genres of music and built up quite a collection. Some of her favorite artists were Clara Ward, The Pilgrim Travelers, Soul Stirrers, Sam Cooke, Johnnie Taylor, and Jerry Butler to name a few.
