Rev. Mary Carolyn Crumbaugh Gray, 72, transitioned from earth to eternity on July 4, 2020 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.
Carolyn was born in Princeton, KY to Roy Crumbaugh and Myrtle Lee Rice on November 27, 1947. She was educated in the Princeton School System. After graduation from high school, Carolyn enrolled at Western Kentucky Vocational School where she received a degree in Culinary Arts. She later attended Kentucky State University.
Carolyn worked at the Hosiery Mill and was employed at the Caldwell County School System as a substitute teacher and a daycare worker.
Carolyn was an ordained minister for over 30 yrs. who believed in praying for others. She was the founder and pastor of the House of Prayer in Princeton. Her collection of over 100 bibles included some in different languages including Chinese! She had a very active Prison Ministry visiting prisoners and exchanging letters with them. She often went to court to pray for the jurors, the judge, and the defendants and passed out literature to the people in the courthouse. Taking an online course in Theology, she continued to study God’s Word later in life. Even though Carolyn never had any of her own, she loved to teach the neighborhood children about the bible. She was a mother to the motherless and she loved her family. She would meet you with a smile on her face and her favorite greeting, “Hey Sweets”!
She is survived by2 brothers: Claude Boyd, Robert Head both of Princeton; 2 aunts: Alice Faye Kilpatrick, Sallie Lewis both of Indianapolis, IN; caregiver & cousin: Anna Nall; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
