Martha Jean Lisembee

Martha Jean Lisembee, age 72, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning at 1:30am on August 7, 2016. She was born to the late Mary Lena Willett and Horace Thomas at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky on October 1, 1943.

Martha Jean graduated from Douglas High School. She served as a Mother of the Church and Sunday School Teacher at Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a Mother of the Church at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana.

Family and friends were her love and joy. Martha was known for her honesty and kindness. She loved cooking for loved ones and serving the Lord.

Martha Jean married Rev. Paul Ray Lisembee. They were married for 43 years.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Paul Lisembee; three children: Dennis Thomas, Vector Elliot (Diane), and Mary Elliot; and three siblings: Rosezella Gilbert (George), William DeJarnett, and Georgia Willett. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Elliot, Jr.; her sister, Helen Chambers; and her brother, Lawrence DeJarnett.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 at 12:00 noon at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson with visitation on Thursday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm also at the church. Burial at Fernwood Cemetery. Mason Brothers Audubon Chapel is in charge. Condolences may be left at www.masonbrothersfs.com
