Mark Elliott Carter was born on September 6, 1962, to the late Lemuel Carter, Jr. and Dorothy R. Ricketts Carter in Gary, Indiana.
Mark received all his elementary and high school education in the Gary Public Schools. He graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1974. After graduation, he attended Purdue University and later joined the United States Army.
Mark accepted Christ as his Savior at the Trinity A.M.E Church in Gurnee, Illinois. Mark grew as a boy to a man knowing that prayer was essential for a true relationship with our Almighty God.
Mark had an outstanding work ethic as a truck driver traveling the United States. His favorite past times were attending live concerts, watching sports games with Nephew, and debating any subject; political, current social issues, and of course, the state of affairs.
He will truly be missed by his wife: Jamie Carter; daughter: Candace Carter (her mother, Valerie Carter); his mother: Dorothy Ricketts Carter; his sister: Deborah Raspberry; brother-in-law: Philip Raspberry; one nephew: Philip Courtney Raspberry; two nieces: Heather Marie Raspberry, and Felicia Grice; four aunts: Shirley Rowlett, Joan Carter, Constance Neal, and Joan Ricketts; one uncle: Gilbert Ricketts; and a host of cousins from the Ricketts Family and the Carter Family.
