Marion Matthews

Marion Matthews, 67, transitioned from earth to eternity on Thurs. Mar. 1, 2018 at University Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born to the union of Frank James and Alice Wilmer Posey Matthews in Newburgh, IN on June 23, 1950.
Marion was baptized under the late Elder Frank Patton, Sr. at Watkins Temple COGIC. She loved the Lord. Always known for her fashionable style, she was a model for DeJong’s and Stewart’s Department Stores. She retired from Bootz Manufacturing after 14 years. Marion was a fighter and was very protective of her family. She was also a generous person who would give you the shirt off her back.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandmother Mary Posey.
Marion leaves to cherish her memory, one brother: Kenneth Watson (Missionary Angela); two sisters: Rev. Shirley VanLeer, Doris Jean Johnson (Robert Lee, Jr.); her special daughter from her heart: Precious Canady; 2 nieces: Bridget Hudson, Marion Jean Johnson; nephews: Kevin Watson, Bobby Johnson (Brandie); great nephews: Japhia Hudson, Brandon Carrington, Jeremiah Hudson; great nieces: Adaiah Hudson, Kennedie Johnson; a special friend Dorothy Market; cousins; as well as a host of family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Progressive Holy Temple Church. Arrangements are entrusted to R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel.
