Margaret Anderson Cheaney Bell, age 83, of Denver CO and formerly of Evansville, made her transition from earth to eternal peace on Saturday, June 30, 2018.
She was born to loving parents, James and Wilma Harrison, in Ripley TN. A long-time member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, she was always willing to serve others. Her legendary life’s accomplishments include being the first African American model for Kline’s Department Store, co-partner in starting daycare centers, and working at various jobs including Whirlpool. She was also a 35-year cancer survivor.
Margaret is survived by her three daughters: Myra A. Cheaney, Margo Cheaney Smith, and Briggitte Cheaney Behi; one son, Byron A. Nance; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; one brother, James E. “Starchy” Anderson, Jr.; two nephews: Billy and Jason Anderson; and uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Homegoing services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00am at Nazarene Baptist Church. Visitation with the family at 10:00am. Wake service Friday from 5-7pm at R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel. Burial at Patoka Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka, IN. Condolences may be left at
