Marcelino Irwin, 66, of Evansville went home to be with the Lord on March 11th,
2023 at Ascension St. Vincent, Evansville. He is the son of Leatrice and
Charles Irwin and was raised in the Catholic faith.
In his youth, he enjoyed little league baseball as well as other sports which
his grandfather Clarence supported and loved to watch. He was educated at St.
Benedict Elementary School, and Reitz Memorial High School and attended Olney
Central College where he studied the building trades.
During high school, Marcelino met some of his best friends; Steve Wahnsiedler,
Dennis Kolb, and Tim Dillman, with whom he remained close friends with for the
next 50 years. They were known to spend time at a cabin enjoying rabbit
hunting, fishing, and campfire chats. They often hung out at Steve or Tim’s car
shop talking about politics and reminiscing about high school shenanigans. He
and Dennis traveled the country attending RC jet flying, Radio-Controlled plane,
events.
In high school, he was employed at Baynham’s shoe store in Washington Square
Mall. His later employment involved him traveling for Combined Insurance
Company.
Marcelino took great interest in and enjoyed flying his model airplanes. His
other interests included photography and cooking. He was known to take great
wedding photos. With respect to his cooking skills, his friends stated that he
made great raisin bread, apple pie, and Belgian waffles and shared many cooking
recipes with Steve’s wife. He was devoted to his mother and wanted the best for
her.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Pauline Robinson and Clarence “Boy”
Robinson, mother: Leatrice Irwin, father: Charles Irwin, and two brothers: Ortega
Irwin and Elorde Irwin. He leaves to cherish his memory, Rapina Robinson, his
loving and devoted aunt along with family and friends.
