Lucille, 92, born on 12/22/29 passed away on 9/10/22. Lucille was a kind-hearted, sweet and loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who never met a stranger! She was a faithful member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she was spiritually fed and served in many capacities including choir, Sunday School Superintendent, Deaconesses and Mothers’ Board. As a young woman, Lucille travelled with her husband, Allison Watson, and their children while he served in the military. Later, the family settled in Evansville, Indiana. Lucille worked as an elevator operator at J.C. Penney in downtown Evansville for a few years. She later became an employee for the University of Evansville serving as a Custodian Manager and retiring as Lead Housekeeper of the president’s resident. She would often provide surrogate support to college students and colleagues inviting them to her home for meals and family-friendly surroundings. Lucille was always a seeker of higher education and took multiple classes at the university including Computer Skills and Psychology.
She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Allison Watson; her mother: Agnes Lowe Mason; father: Murray R. Mason; sister: Quinceola Mason Dunmars; and brothers: Charles Mason, Murray J. Mason, and Robert R. Mason.
Lucille is survived by her brother: Bethel N. Mason; children: William E. Watson, Richard A. Watson, Rosemary Jones (Charles), Alice Watson-Pennybaker (Steve); grandchildren: Mario Watson, Antwan Watson, Alicia Weakley, Cinnamon Weakley, Latoya Watson, Amber Pennybaker; and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
