Louis Edward Allen Jr. was born May 2, 1951, to the late Louis and Molly Belle Woolfolk Allen in Welch, West Virginia. When Louis was young, his family moved to Providence, Kentucky. He graduated from Providence High School in 1971 after which he attended Motlow State Community College in Tennessee. While in college, he was named to the Classic All-tournament Basketball Team and to the TJCAA Eastern Division Honor Team.
Louis accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Simpson Chapel Presbyterian Church in Providence, Kentucky. He worked for many years as a coal miner. “Big Lou” as he was called, loved fishing, playing cards, playing basketball, going to the racetrack, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Revella Brooks.
Louis is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patrice Allen; children, TaWanna Copeland (Garland), Darnell Allen, and Rashidian Allen; step-children, Alisa Lindle, Steven Ross, Ashyia McFarland, Remone Gadie, Darnetta Foster; God-daughter Andrea Parker; grandchildren, Montray, Montera, China, Elonte, Javan, Destin, Kayden, Byonca, Chase, Remone, Jr., and Anitra, seven great-grandchildren and a host of special cousins and friends.
