Lottie Mae Carter Harvell was born March 2, 1935, in Princeton KY. She was the eldest of 18 children born to Marion and Ida Mae Carter. Lottie attended Lincoln High School and began working at an early age in various jobs. She worked at the Vendome Hotel in Evansville for many years and at the Old Shirt Factory and Holley Carburetor Company in Paris, TN. She finally retired from working in the early 90s. For many years Lottie was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and although her physical health kept her from the building, she never lost her faith in God.
In her spare time, Lottie played Aggravation, Pokeno, Bingo, and Spades. Down through the years, she was also a fan of WWF and WWE wrestling. Her greatest joy was in preparing big meals for her seven children, who she loved dearly. Lottie is preceded in death by her parents Ida Mae and Marion Carter; two of her daughters, Kathy and Janice Thomas; several brothers and sisters, Darlene, Margaret, Lola, Jerry, Earl, Junior, Anthony; and a few grandchildren. Lottie leaves behind to cherish her memories, her daughter & caregiver, Peggie Thomas; sons, Wayne and Johnny Thomas and Terry and Teddy Cosby; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren; in addition to her remaining sisters and brothers, Norman Carter, Markie Carter, Ray (Sherry) Carter, Bessie Payne, Mildred (Joe) Compton, Susan (Michael) King, Mary Thomas, and Betty Carter; nieces, nephews and a host of friends, family and loved ones.
