Linda L. Jones, 66, of Evansville, IN was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Having accepted Christ at a young age, Linda was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was a devoted and beloved mother, grandmother and faithful friend.
She was known for her quick wit and humor, making her a joy to be around. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 354, she was frequently asked to provide her famed chicken and dumplings, which she was known for as well as her delicious caramel cake. It’s fair to say, she was a culinary genius in the preparation of soul food cuisine. She worked in various restaurant businesses throughout Evansville and many remember the long lines after church at the Sirloin Stockade. Linda had a generous and caring spirit and her holiday feasts, providing a hearty warm meal to many in the community, will be greatly missed.
Linda Jones was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sevilla Banks; step-mom, Edna Banks Johnson; step-grandmother, Rose E. Hopkins; and son, Emery March.
She is survived by three daughters: Connie Banks, Katrina March and Karla March; a son, Robert March; grandchildren: Marquise Cooper, Keiaria Johnson, and Destiny March; great-grandchildren: Jaden Cooper and Janaya Parker; her sister, Nina Cheatem; brothers: William and James (Patricia) Banks, all of which reside in Evansville; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and close friend, Michael Hale.
