Rev. Letcher Franklin McGuire,82, passed away into the loving arms of God Thursday, January 26, 2017. After graduating from Douglas High School, he joined the Army and faithfully served his country while stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he later became employed at Alcoa from which he retired after more than 30 years of service. Rev. McGuire was a faithful member of Seventh Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and later as a staff minister. He was ordained as a minister in 2005.
Rev. McGuire was a 33rd degree Mason and was a member of the St. John Masonic Lodge in Henderson. He was a past member of Cawthar Temple #118 in Evansville. He served as Past Master and Commander-in-Chief of Royal Secret Consistory #240. His favorite college basketball team was the UK Wildcats and he enjoyed many hours watching them play on television. He also liked to pass the time playing games on his computer and listening to music.
In addition to his parents, Hugh and Mary Jessie McGuire, he was preceded in death by siblings: Sandy McGuire, Horace McGuire, Sr., Charles McGuire, George McGuire, and Talitha Black.
He leaves to cherish fond memories a loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Rose McGuire; son: Charles McGuire (Nancy); daughter: Marilyn McGuire; sisters: Cora Cobb and Virginia Farmer; brother: David McGuire; granddaughter: Kisha McGuire; great granddaughter: Shayla McGuire; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.
