Lester Spaulding

December 1, 1960 — March 23, 2023

Lester Myron "Reese" Spaulding entered this world on December 1, 1960 to James Miley Spaulding and Mary Edna (Sutton) Spaulding in Morganfield, Kentucky. Reese was James and Mary's sixth born child of the twelve children born from their union.

Reese gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was baptized at age 13 at the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church in Morganfield, KY.

A strong work ethic was instilled in Reese from a young age, as he took after his father, Mr. Jack. His first job was held at Earl C. Clements Job Corp. Center in Morganfield, KY. Reese attended Union County High School where he played sports and excelled at Track & Field. After graduating from Union County High School in 1979, Reese began working alongside his father and older brother, James Jr., at Deig Bros. Construction.

Blessed are those fortunate to find their soul mate and Reese hit the jackpot in finding his other half. Reese married the love of his life, Mitzi Elam in July 1979. Their marriage produced three children - Cheria, LarKetia and Quintin. Reese was a proud family man and would do anything for his family. He especially loved vacations and large gatherings with him at the grill!

Reese & Mitzi moved to Evansville, Indiana in 1982. Reese began working at General Electric (later purchased by Sabic) in March of 1986 and held a career that would span more than 31 years. Lester loved his time in Building 13 and made many friendships that have lasted throughout the years beyond his time there.

Reese held many titles throughout his life but his most cherished title was that of Grandpa. Reese loved his grandkids more than anything and their affection for him was always returned in abundance of hugs, kisses, snuggles and virtually no moments of privacy when they were in his presence. His grandkids adored their Grandpa beyond measure and will surely treasure their memories and special connections they each shared with their grandpa.

Reese's beautiful soul gained eternal salvation on March 23, 2023. His family takes solace in knowing that Reese is at peace.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory are Reese's wife of more than 43 years, Mitzi. His children, LarKetia Spaulding and Quintin Spaulding. His grandchildren, Elijah, Kaedyn and Ayden Spaulding. His siblings Angela (Clarksville, TN), Elaine (Nashville, TN), Helen (Bowling Green, KY) Bruce (Morganfield, KY), Myra (Morganfield, KY), Don (Morganfield, KY), MIssy (Robert, Henderson, KY), Jackie (Uniontown, KY) and Lona (Virginia Beach, VA). Also left to cherish his memory are a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, near and far, and friends of which there are too many to name. He loved you all.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary, his father James, his precious daughter Cheria, his oldest sister Deborah and his older brother James Jr.

Reese leaves behind a legacy as that of a devoted husband, a dutiful son, a silly uncle, an amazing father and a beyond proud grandfather. Reese was a phenomenal man and he will never be forgotten.
