Lequita Marie Johnson aka ‘Quita’ aka ‘Quit Quit’ was born in Morganfield, KY at the Methodist Hospital of Union County on September 10, 1979, to Teresa Ann Johnson-Mason and Stephen Wayne Brown. Lequita passed away on March 21, 2022.
Lequita was a member of Greater Mt. Olive Overcoming Church of Douglasville, GA. She grew up in the Catholic Church and was baptized at the age of 12 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Emporia, VA. Lequita loved the Lord tremendously and was a true representation of one of God’s angels here on earth. She touched many hearts with her beautiful spirit and played her worship music daily, which was her favorite music to listen to. Her love was flawless and pure; it was a true depiction of God’s love for us.
During her early childhood years, Lequita attended school in Morganfield and Henderson Kentucky. She graduated and received her diploma from Greensville County High School in Emporia, VA. Lequita participated in the annual Special Olympics as a competitive cheerleader and was also a member of ROTC. She worked at Taco Bell and Hampton Inn in Emporia, VA. Over the past few years, Lequita worked at and attended ‘We Speak for Ourselves.
Lequita had the most beautiful and welcoming personality. She was kind, warm, and truly unique. She had a way of making people laugh at all times. She never met a stranger and embraced everyone that she encountered, regardless of their race, gender, or color. She was always the life of the party and loved to dance. She loved her family dearly and her favorite quote will always be remembered as “Don’t Mess with the Johnsons!” Lequita’s favorite hobby was latch-hooking, puzzles, playing cards, and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather James Albert Johnson and paternal grandmother Fannie Mae Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory mother: Teresa Johnson-Mason; stepfather: Willie Mason; father: Stephen Brown; grandmother: Eula Mae Drane; stepgrandmother: Sylvia Thornton; sister Eula Johnson; brother: Stephen Brown (Doretha); nephew: Cameron Wyche; stepsister: Shannon Hawkins; step-grandparents: Edward Lee Conner (Thelma); maternal Aunts and Uncles: Marie Garnett, Sandra Catlett, Linda Baity, MaryJane Johnson, Dennis Johnson (Alethea), Shirley Givens (Anthony), and James Johnson Jr. (Delores); paternal Aunts and Uncles: Robert Willet (Emma), Maurice Brown (Tracy) Lemuel Brown (Niecy), and Jimmy Lee (Linda); and a host of cousins.
