Leonard “Lenny Short Man” Starks, 73, transitioned from earth to eternity on Sunday, September 26, 2021, peacefully at his home. He was born in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Leonard & Mary Jo Starks. Leonard was a graduate of Central High School class of 1966. After high school, he married the love of his life, Tommie Flemming-Starks.
Leonard served four years in the United States Armed Forces, and after the military, he became a member of the International Union of Painters & Allied Trades District Council 91. He worked as a Professional Painter at Hormuth, then later went to work at Tristate Painting Co Inc, where he retired in 2008. Throughout his painting career, he worked on many churches and local landmarks. Leonard was a part of numerous organizations within the tri-state area and enjoyed listening to the blues, having dance contests with his sons, and overall talking SMACK!
In addition to his father, Leonard was preceded in death by his grandmother: Stella Dulin; Father-in-law: Thomas Flemming; and sister-in-law: Francis Dulin.
Leonard leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, his wife of 54 years: Tommie Flemming-Starks; children: Linda (Dudley) Watkins, Shannon (Lawrence) Sanners, Tammara Starks (Jerry Harris), Shaft Starks, Franotis” Quinn” Starks, and Jermyane (Veronica) Starks; mother: Mary Starks; siblings: Tommy Dulin, David (Brenda) Starks, William Anderson, Susie (Greg) Layne, Diana Kelly, Laura Starks, Marchella Starks, and Doris Starks; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a host of other friends and family. A mask is required for all services.
