Leon “Big Man” Collins, 71, went home to be with the Lord February 13, 2018. Born to the late Delores Richardson on June 27, 1946, he accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and became a faithful member of Little Valley Baptist Church. He attended worship services and other church activities until his health prohibited him from doing so.
Leon graduated from Central High School. He later joined the US Army where he served during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he obtained his Associates Degree from the University of Evansville in Electronics. He worked for many years at Xerox Corporation as a copier serviceman and later for Casino Aztar. “Big Man” as he was called, was known in the community as a witty person who always kept others laughing. He never met a stranger.
In addition to his loving mother, Leon is preceded in death by his grandmother: Amanda Collins; brother: Rev. Ronald Collins.
Leon leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of 44 years: Antoinnette Collins; daughters: Yolanda Collins, Angel Collins, Breonna Collins; sons: Christopher Collins (Kameysha) of Atlanta, GA, Carlton Collins, Bryson Collins; a devoted brother: Leonard Collins (Delores), an uncle: Deacon Raymond Crenshaw. He also had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
