Lanatia Gail (Negale) Rankin

Lanatia Gail “Negale” Rankin, 62, passed November 6, 2021. She was born in Evansville, IN on December 28, 1958, to the late Roy Van Rankin, Jr. and Helen Borgan Byrd. She was educated in the Evansville Vanderburgh County School System graduating from Bosse High School. She also graduated from Lockyear Business College and worked in the nursing field and other professions during her career.

Lanatia professed her faith in Christ at a young age and joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was known for her happy spirit which was demonstrated by her enjoyment of fun, dancing, and singing. Lanatia was a Sci-Fi and scary movie fanatic who also took pride in all of her grandbabies.

In addition to her parents, Lanatia was preceded in death by her son: Jamal Rankin; 4 brothers: Desi Rankin, Michale Rankin, Geno Rankin, Roy Rankin, III; sister: Regina Rankin, Denise Rankin, Renae Rankin.

Negale leaves behind to cherish her memory, 2 daughters: JasMinn Darrett, Diane “Cookie” Watson; brothers: Fletcher (Velisha) Byrd, Dewayne Rankin; sisters: Debra (Toshio) Roach, Belinda Landers, Tracena (Ronnie) Rankin, Megan Rankin, Natalie Parrish, Bridget Rankin, Raelyn Rankin; grandchildren: Tabre’yah, TaKyra, TaDae’sia, Te’Osha, Ty’Reyanna, Gage, Gary, and Jamal; 6 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; special niece Reyna Lewis, special aunt Annabelle Lawrence, and very special friend Joseph May.
