“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord for they shall rest from their labors and their works do follow them.”
Katie Mae Cooper, 90 years of age, told the Lord she was tired and wanted to go home on March 18, and on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, she went home to be with the Lord. She was surrounded by her three loving children and a few family members. Katie was born on September 19, 1933, to the late Lewis Thomas and Rosie (Thacker) Thomas in Cadiz, Kentucky.
Katie attended school in Trigg County Kentucky and Lincoln High School in Evansville.
In 1952, Katie married Robert Cooper, Sr. who preceded her in death.
Katie was employed by the Peyronnin Family for over 37 years. She was a loving and caring Mom, Granny, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and Sister in Christ. What a heart she had, she loved to cook, and everyone was always welcome to sit down at her table. She was a prayer warrior at the Line Street Church of Christ where she was a member for over 60 years.
In addition to her parents and husband Katie was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Dennis, George, and Marvin.
Katie leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Bettye Griffith, and Farestine (Johnny) Johnson; one son: Robert Cooper, Jr.; four grandsons: Darrius Griffith, Ronald Griffith, Eric Cooper, and Robert Cooper; nine great - grandchildren: Jaylon Griffith, DeLove Griffith, Kevon Cooper, Erica Cooper, Lasha Cooper, Rocky Cooper, Eric Cooper, Montez Cooper, and Mirage Cooper; One great-great-grandson, Atceus Cooper; one sister: Tula Bell Shane; cousin and bonus sister Dora Darden; bonus children: Clementine Brown, Ward, and Drew Peyronnin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a loving Line Street Church of Christ Family.
