Katherine Frieson was born December 29, 1940 in Tunica, Mississippi to the late Willie and Anna L. Brown. She departed this life on May 18, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was 77 years old.
Katherine received her early education in Tunica, Mississippi. She loved the Lord and gave her life to Christ at Scott Chapel Baptist Church in Tunica. While in Mississippi, she worked for Compress Manufacturing Company on the wire manufacturing line.
Katherine loved children and gave life to six girls and six boys: Cora, Alberta, Annie, Corine, Mary, Helen, Sylvester, Tommy, Willie, Jerry, Charles, and Sammy. She loved to cook, especially down-home southern food and was a wonderful baker of cakes and pies. But more than anything, she loved her grandkids and spent many hours playing with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Frieson; her son, Sylvester Lipson; her daughter, Cora Lipson; her brother, George Brown; and her sister-in-law, Bernice Brown.
Left to cherish her memory are five daughters: Alberta Humphrey (Edie Ellis) of Tunica MS, Annie (Carleton) Wilson, Corine Lipson, Mary (Kirth) Booker, and Helen Lipson - all of Evansville IN; five sons: Tommy Lipson, Willie Lipson, Jerry Lipson, Charles Lipson, and Sammy Lipson; two loving aunts: Cora Slaughter and Ethel M. Jones; a favorite nephew, George Brown (Belinda Johnson); in-laws: Tommy Lipson from Columbia OH and Monroe Lipson and Barbara Lipson – both of Memphis TN; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00am at Memorial Baptist Church, 605 Canal Street, Evansville IN 47713. Same day visitation will be from 9:00am – 11:00am also at the church. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at
