Julius Ray Saxton

October 11, 1940 — October 16, 2016

Julius Ray “Bubba” Saxton was born October 11, 1940 to Burt and Nettie Saxton in Clinton, Kentucky. He departed this life October 16, 2016 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center at 10:00 am. He married Johnnie Hunt (Croom) on May 10, 1960. He was the father of Angeline Croom of Louisville, Kentucky and Devon L. Saxton of Mayfield, Kentucky.

Julius worked at Dairyman Supply Company as a laborer for 30 years. He was a Deacon of Fairview Baptist Church and a member of the Gospel Choir and Male Chorus. He also was a Trustee. Julius was a member of Rising Star #17 and Eastern Star Vanda L. Langham Chapter #137.

He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Johnnie; a daughter, Angeline; a son, Devon; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Glenn; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: B.W. Saxton and Ben Saxton of Mayfield KY; one sister, Margie Saxton Payne of Mayfield; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Julius was preceded in death by his mother and father; four sisters; and one brother.

Services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Fairview Baptist Church in Mayfield with same day visitation from 10:00am until service time. Rev. Leroy Brent officiating. Burial at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Mayfield. Mason’s Memorial Chapel, 420 E. Water Street, Mayfield KY is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.masonbrothersfs.com
