Juanita Carolyn Sullivan, 76, passed on October 12, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born in Evansville to Harry Robert Sullivan and Mamie Merritt Sullivan on June 15, 1940. She was retired from CoVan Corner Restaurant where she was a cook. Juanita was a lover of old cowboy movies and was an avid reader of Agatha Christie novels and history books. Her favorite past-time was to cook large meals for her family and friends and to entertain in her home. A great accomplishment of Juanita’s was that she wrote the lyrics for two songs that were recorded; “You Should Be Ashamed” and “Don’t Forget My Love.”
She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. W.R. Brown Sr. and later became a founding member of New Horizons Baptist church where she was a mother and financial supporter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Margaret Frances Witherspoon; brother: Shirley Eugene Sullivan; grandson; Lance Merriweather; great grandsons: Ronald Lamont Henderson, Ryan Merriweather; grandmother: Sallie McGhee; aunt: Helen Taylor.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Harry (Janie) Sullivan, Rebecca Merriweather; siblings: Paula Joyce, Aaron Witherspoon; grandchildren: Alandra (Shawn) Hueston, Angela (Jeremy) McCree; 6 great grandchildren; special nieces: Michelle (Rueben) Johnson, Angela Leavell, Aurkaishia Clark; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday October 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel is entrusted with services. Leave condolences at
