Joy Lindsey was born February 25, 1953 to the late Jack Lewis Wilson and Cora Bell Wilson in Springfield, Tennessee. Joy was called to the Throne of Grace on March 27, 2022.
Joy graduated from Central High School in 1972. She was a member of Mt. Olive Galilee Baptist Church. She was a member of the Household of Ruth. She was a member of American Legion Lady Auxiliary 354 for many years and former President. On January 5, 1981, she was united in marriage to the late Steve Lindsey. Joy was employed with Eaton Axle for over 20 years. Joy was the life of any party and she loved her family.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother: Calvin “Baldy” Wilson; sisters: Bessie Pasty Smith and Linda D. Wilson; uncle: Charlie Woodard; aunts: Maguritte Woodard and Helen Finch; and step-daughter: Michelle Lindsey.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two loving and devoted sons: Robert (Christine) Wilson of Evansville, IN; Walter (Erin) McCarty of Lincoln, MA; two loving devoted daughters: Dytana and Twanna Wilson both of Evansville, IN; stepson: Jawan (Untra) Lindsey of Atlanta, GA; two sisters: Virginia Lee of Springfield, TN, and Helen Collins, of Evansville IN; brother-in-law: Noble Smith of Springfield, TN; sisters-in-law: Sybil Wilson of Springfield, TN, Carolyn Lindsey, Lula Pace, and Cora Kennar all of Evansville, IN, Debra (Gregory)Peoples of Elk Grove, CA, and Marilyn (Norbie) Kempt of Grandview, IN; aunt: Edna Woodard of Springfield, TN; twelve grandchildren, one great- grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
