Joseph Parvin Washington, a beloved community member and devoted family man, passed away on January 30, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 82. Born on June 30, 1942, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Joseph dedicated his life to serving others, both in his professional career and in his community involvement.

After attending Western High School in Owensboro, KY, Joseph joined the United States Army, serving honorably as a Vietnam War veteran stationed in Germany and Vietnam. Following his discharge, he continued to serve in the Army Reserve, demonstrating a deep commitment to his country.

Joseph retired from Evansville Water & Sewage after 38 years of dedicated service, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity. He was well-loved by his colleagues and served as the Past Potentate of Cawthar Temple #118 in Evansville, Indiana, a role in which he actively contributed to the community and fostered many cherished relationships.  His warmth and kindness extended beyond his professional life. Joseph was a proud father and a cherished family member.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Washington; his parents, James M. Washington Sr. and Camilla Washington; his children, Camilla Washington-Greer, Donald Buckner, and Phillip Buckner; and several siblings, including James M. Washington Jr., John Lawrence Washington, Marvin Washington, William Washington, Russell Washington, and Perry Washington.

 He is survived by his children: Parvetta Washington of Memphis, TN; Lenora Kimbrough-Johnson of Indianapolis, IN; Selwin Buckner of Evansville, IN; Eric Buckner (Fatima) of Evansville, IN; and James Buckner (Diane) of Hopkinsville, KY. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved siblings: Gerlene Jackson of Owensboro, KY; Joyce Morman (Phillip) of Owensboro, KY; and Alverna Dulin of Owensboro, KY. His family grew with the addition of 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Cody, who was his constant companion.

 His legacy of service, love, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
