John Wesley Fleming passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. He was born on February 11, 1927 in Sharon, Mississippi to the late Walter and Mattie Bell (Plummer) Fleming, Sr.
John was a deacon at The Lord's House COGIC. He was dedicated to his church and family. He was also a hard worker and was a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America, Local 561 for over fifty years.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ozie, Tommie, W.B. and Walter and sister Mattie Bledso.
John is survived by his loving wife, Florence. He also leaves behind his children: Gail Garnett (Springfield, IL), Dr. Linda (David) McGhee (Silver Spring, MD), Dana Fleming (Louisville, KY), Brent Fleming (Newburgh, IN) and Jennifer Fleming (Evansville, IN); stepchildren: Dennis (Regina) King, Eric (Betty) King, Michael King, Faye Daniels, Jackie King, David King and Kenneth King; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Mozell and E.L. (Hazel) Fleming; sisters: Elizabeth (John) Sims and Arnisha Fleming; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, who lovingly referred to him as "Uncle Big John."
Visitation will be Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Masons Brothers Memorial Chapel from 4pm-6pm. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 11am at The Lord's House COGIC, 919-923 Meyer Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710. The services will be officiated by Elder Arther Lee Bell.
