John Dorsey Brown, son of the late Simpson S. Brown and Maymie Dixon Brown, passed away on March 24, 2018 at the age of 91 years. He was born on May 23, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI.
John received his elementary and high school education in Kentucky. He received his A.S. Degree in Business Administration in 1976.
John served honorably in the United States Army for twenty years. He served 16 months in the Korean War and two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He retired from the military in 1970 and went on to work and retire from the City of Indianapolis, IN after twenty years of service.
John loved Jazz music, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rilma; four brothers: Lewis, Wallace, Albert, and Ralph; and four sisters: Glenna, Julia, Margaret and Bertha.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Robert W. Fletcher; his daughter, Doris J. Smith; six grandchildren: Sherice, Robert Jr., Christopher, Jeanna, Cheney, and Jamiel; eight great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, Che’Nivah, Brenna, Trinity, Lamir, Kia, Anijah, and Desmond; two sisters: Sue and Martha; eight sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
