Jimmie Tyus also known as Baby Brother or Bay Bro, passed away on November 5, 2022, with health problems. He was born in Prattville, Alabama to Jimmie and Janie Tyus on March 12, 1949. Jimmie graduated from Central High School in 1967 where he excelled in football, ran track, and was a member of the Honor Society. He would often tutor his friends with their difficult subjects. He received his bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green where he also played football for the Hilltoppers.
Jimmie loved music and was an excellent dancer. He was a very personable person who was well-liked by many. He had a successful career as a salesman for Allstate Insurance Company for many years and was promoted to District Manager. He moved to Louisville for a few years where he was employed as a car salesman at Brown Brothers Cadillac. In later years, Jimmie was a substitute teacher for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp.
Jimmie is survived by his, son: Jwan Tyus; sister Lois Tyus; brothers: Roger Tyus, Stevie Tyus, and Victor Tyus; nieces: Stacey Tyus, Carla Tyus, Shawn Tyus, Mwaka Tyus; nephews: Cory Tyus, Nakia Tyus, and Twaka Tyus. Rest in Peace Big Brother! There will be no visitation or funeral service.
